Immigrate to Canada

Welcoming Communities

If you live outside of Canada and are thinking of immigrating or would simply like some international experience, we would like you to consider Canada. And more specifically, we would like you to consider moving to the Peace Country in the Province of Alberta.

If you already live in Canada, and are looking to pursue your dreams further afield, we invite you to consider Alberta’s Peace Country.

The astute new comer will move to an area that is:

  • Prosperous with opportunities for workers and investors
  • Growing, secure and healthy
  • Family friendly, including opportunities to build strong social relationships
  • Democratic, with strong governance institutions
  • Fun, providing a high quality of life

Peace Country communities have all the amenities of larger urban centers without the traffic congestion, the long commutes and the higher cost of living.

The Peace Country offers:

  • Safe and modern towns, cities and communities. Alberta’s crime rate is the lowest among western provinces.
  • A good supply of available housing with among lowest property taxes in Canada
  • Connected communities. Alberta has the best fibre optics and wireless communication network in Canada (98% of households have access to a wireless signal).
  • An excellent educational system that includes public, Catholic and francophone school jurisdictions and post-secondary institutions such as Grande Prairie Regional College, Fairview College Campus, Northern Lakes College and other affiliated institutions. The primary and secondary school system is publicly funded. Post-secondary institutions are publicly supported, allowing for affordable education.
  • Comprehensive health services. The Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie is the largest hospital in the region and provides access to a full range of services. Additional hospitals are located in Peace River, Beaverlodge, Fairview, Grimshaw, Manning, McLennan and Valleyview.
  • Natural scenic beauty including vast forests, pristine lakes, major rivers, acres of unspoiled wilderness and an abundance of wildlife.
  • Excellent air and water quality.
  • Numerous cultural festivals, sporting events, fairs and rodeos.
  • Cultural and recreational facilities, including theatres, sporting venues and community recreational complexes. A new aquatics and multiplex, featuring two pools, an indoor running track, basketball, volleyball and indoor soccer courts is expected to be opened in Grande Prairie in fall of 2011.
  • Many parks, walking trails, paths, golf courses and campgrounds.
  • Museums, libraries and historical sites.
