Many people believe that in an ideal world, young children would be under the constant care and supervision of their parents. However, in the modern world one or both parents must often work outside of the home. For most children under 12 years of age, this means that parents must find appropriate care for their children when they are not available to look after them.
The Government of Alberta webpage http://www.child.alberta.ca/home/1148.cfm provides information for parents on finding child cares. This includes child care subsidies that may be available for low and medium income families. The webpage http://www.child.alberta.ca/home/ChildCareLookup.cfm provides a database of childcare resources in Alberta communities.
The booklet Choosing Child Care is published by the Alberta Government and provides important information and a checklist.
