Banking

In Canada, the banking industry is regulated by law. Canadian banks are very safe places to keep you money. Most adult Canadians have at least one banking account. Most Albertans keep their money in a bank, a credit union or the Alberta Treasury Branch.

You must pay a service charge for most banking services. Financial institutions offer services such as:

  • chequing, saving and other types of accounts
  • utility, telephone and credit card bill payment services by phone, online or at automated
  • banking machine (ABM)
  • safety deposit boxes
  • debit cards and credit cards
  • loans
  • money orders and traveller’s cheques

To choose a bank, credit union or treasury branch, you can ask a friend and family where they bank or visit a few financial institutions and ask about their services.

Here is a list of Financial Institutions across Peace Country that might help you find the one you need.
